SEASON WRAP UP

First off, thank you to everyone who came out and made this series what it is. We had some really awesome car counts this season as well as some great racing! We had a whopping 71 drivers make starts in the Winston Cup series. The series featured 10 different drivers bringing home a victory as well as 3 drivers claiming their first career Winston Cup series victory this year (Steve Garrison, Ken Skjei, Toby Margison).

For some statistics here, we are going to break it down into the first half and second half of the season. The first half of the season averaged 30.8 cars a race and 10.8 cautions per race. The highest car count coming at Daytona with 36 and the lowest cautions also coming there at 3. The lowest car count was 24 at North Wilkesboro and the highest caution count was 23 at North Carolina. The second half was a much different story with cautions. The average was 7.8 cautions per race with the highest coming at Martinsville 14, but the lowest is a 3-way tie between California, Talladega, and Daytona. We averaged 25.5 cars a race in the second half. The highest car count was Talladega at 37 (WHEW!!) and the lowest was a tie between Pocono and Riverside at 19 cars.

Next year, we will under the FSB lights being broadcasted every week. The theme will be “FAST AND FUN” running at Speedways and two road courses. Look forward to another great season with you all !(Matt Watkins 5/27/10)
